Takemusu Aikido Society

Five years ago, Takemusu Aikido Society began its journey. Today we celebrated that milestone with the first day of our 5th Anniversary Seminar . Blessed with excellent weather, we spent the day training outdoors. The first day of the seminar was devoted to basics of Aiki-ken. We began with the seven suburi then progressed through awase, and finished with exploring first three kumitachi: Suburi 1 - 7 Shihogiri  Happogiri Migi Happogiri Hidari Happogiri (Roku no Suburi) Shihogiri (San on Suburi) Shihonanatonbungiri Migi Awase Hidari Awase Go no Awase Shichi no Awase Ichi no Tachi Ni no Tachi San no Tachi After intense day of training, we put our bokkens aside and gathered for a barbecue. Today we met in Ringsend Park to practise Aiki-ken: 🔹 Suburi 1-7 🔹 Go no Awase 🔹 Shichi no Awase The main class at Ringsend & Irishtown Community Centre was dedicated to Nemoto Sensei , who turns 76 tomorrow . Those who have trained with him will remember his tradition of leading intense, fast-paced summer classes during the hottest days of July. In tribute to his remarkable energy and teaching style, we followed one of his favourite sequences that gradually expands, adding new techniques at each stage while maintaining the flow of the previous ones.
