Today was the last keiko of 2025. We did multiple variations of Shomen Uchi Sankyo. Tai no Henko  Tai no Henko Ki no Nagare Morotedori Kokyuho Shomen Uchi Ikkyo Omote  Shomen Uchi Sankyo Omote Shomen Uchi Sankyo Ura Shomen Uchi Sankyo Henka 1 Shomen Uchi Sankyo Henka 2 Shomen Uchi Sankyo Henka 3 Shomen Uchi Sankyo Henka 4 Zagi Kokyuho Merry Christmas, everyone! Today marked the final practice of 2026 at our Balbriggan Dojo. We were pleased to present certificates to the students who successfully passed their tests last week, and to welcome a newcomer onto the mats. As always, the class began with our foundational exercises: • Tai no Henko • Tai no Henko Ki no Nagare • Morotedori Kokyuho After this, the class divided into beginner and advanced groups. The beginners focused on Kosadori techniques: • Kosadori Ikkyo Omote • Kosadori Kotegaeshi • Kosadori Shihonage Omote The advanced group worked on Ushiro Katate Eridori : • Ushiro Eridori Katate Sankyo • Ushiro Eridori Katate Jujinage • Ushiro Eridori Katate Kokyunage We concluded the tai jutsu practice with Zagi Kokyuho . Today in Ringsend Dojo, we welcomed Jan returning from Japan. He came back after a month of hard training in Iwama, happy and excited. Today was the first practice of the month in Balbriggan Dojo, so we concentrated on weapons practice. This time, we focused on riai - the connection between aiki-ken and tai-jutsu. Today in our Ringsend Dojo, we were delighted to see how moved our new member was when we presented him with a free keikogi, purchased thanks to the generosity of As Darragh Did. From now on, all new members of Takemusu Aikido Society will receive a free keikogi as part of our Pathway to Aikido programme, which we are delivering with the support of As Darragh Did. With a new member on the mats, we began a new study cycle and focused on Ikkyo, the First Teaching. This technique is always the foundation of how we introduce Aikido.
